All-digital wireless network Sprint PCS signed an agreement making DealTime’s independent online comparison
shopping service available on the Sprint PCS Wireless Web.
Via DealTime, Sprint PCS customers with an Internet-ready Sprint PCS Phone
will be able to compare prices in a variety of Web shopping categories,
including electronics, flowers, gifts, books, computers and appliances.
Financial arrangements between the companies were not disclosed.
“As a result of this agreement, consumers will be able to further integrate
Web-enabled phones into their lives and compare prices anywhere, even in a
store — like checking out the price of the latest DVD player while standing
in a local electronics store,” said David Epstein, senior vice president,
corporate development at DealTime.
DealTime will be located within the “Shopping” category of the Sprint PCS
Wireless Web. Future functionality will include the ability to purchase items
directly from the DealTime site on an Internet-ready Sprint PCS Phone.
Sprint PCS
phones let customers shop, trade stocks online, browse select
Internet-based content in real time, receive automatic personalized news
features, weather, stock quotes, and e-mail updates, and connect to the
Internet or corporate intranets.
DealTime, already available for wireless devices at dealtime.com/mobile and
to AT&T’s PocketNet Service subscribers, allows consumers to compare models,
brands, merchant types and prices from merchants across the Web, as well as
off-line sellers.
DealAgent,
DealTime’s dynamic pricing engine, empowers merchants, manufacturers and
industry analysts by providing aggregated indication-of-interest data about
consumer buying activity through DealTime.
