Storage management software vendor BakBone Software(TM), Inc. today announced that its NetVault(TM) backup/restore software has been verified by Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. as being interoperable with Brocade(R)-based Storage Area Networking (SAN) infrastructures.

Verifying interoperability of our software with Brocade’s SilkWorm fabric switches is a great step for BakBone,” said Lauren Whitehouse, BakBone’s vice president of marketing. “By extending our compatibility to include Brocade products we strengthen our ‘dominant provider’ position and reaffirm our status as a top-tier player in the SAN marketplace.”

According to BakBone, its NetVault product allows users to direct data to and from any network resource, whether client, server, or storage drive, quickly. They say it is especially well suited to SAN architecture, as it enables information to travel along the most efficient path without the need for a backup server to process or touch backup data.
