Emulex and IBM Demonstrate iSCSI Interoperability

Emulex Corp., a supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), today announced an iSCSI interoperability showcase with IBM, at the 2001 International Storage Systems Symposium in Las Vegas, Aug. 20-22.

Emulex will showcase its recently announced GN9000/SI iSCSI (Internet SCSI) host bus adapter in conjunction with IBM’s TotalStorage IP Storage 200i. Emulex is working closely with IBM, one of the leading proponents of the iSCSI storage networking technology, to validate the capabilities of IP networks for accessing block level storage.

The Emulex iSCSI demonstration in booth No. 108 highlights an iSCSI solution, configured with Emulex’s GN9000/SI HBA accessing block level storage from IBM’s TotalStorage IP Storage 200i over an IP network.

“IBM is committed to supporting iSCSI interoperability and helping to develop standards and products that enable customers to utilize pooled storage on a network through Internet protocols,” said Paul Mattson, business line manager, IP Storage for IBM.

“We’re working with vendors like Emulex to ensure ease of use and compatibility between our high-performance iSCSI solutions that will support the growing storage access demands of enterprise class applications.”
