Exabyte to Partner With BakBone Software

Exabyte Corporation, a network backup systems vendor, today announced today that it has signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BakBone Software Corporation, a a network data protection software vendor.

According to Exabyte, the MOU specifies that each company will more actively engage in marketing the other’s products, and opens the door for cross-training of marketing, sales and support resources at both companies. In addition, Exabyte and BakBone will share proprietary information relating to the engineering and development of future products.

“BakBone’s NetVault(TM) backup software works particularly well with our tape drives and tape automation hardware and, to date, they have been a significant partner in successful backup solutions for a number of our customers. We look forward to expanding our relationship with BakBone Software,” said Mark Hall, Exabyte manager of strategic alliances.

“Today, more than ever, it is crucial that all companies, no matter how large or small, ensure their data is protected,” said Larry E. Fox, director of strategic alliances for BakBone Software. “This agreement is a natural fit for BakBone to partner our high-performance storage management software with Exabyte’s wide offerings of tape products, delivering the highest level of data protection and performance available for open system computing environments.”
