BakBone Software(TM) and Seagate Removable Storage Solutions (RSS) today announced an OEM software bundle, under which Seagate will include a copy of BakBone’s NetVault(TM) backup/restore software with its Viper(R) 200 Ultrium tape drive and Viper 2000 autoloader.
Seagate officials said they chose to partner with BakBone because of NetVault’s demonstrated ability to handle backup loads with an unparalleled combination of power and ease of use, and because NetVault enables the Viper 200 drives to process data at a higher rate of throughput and efficiency than with other products currently available.
The NetVault/Viper drive bundle is slated to be available in the first half of this year via Seagate’s network of value-added resellers and distributors or on the Internet at Seagate’s online store for tape products.
