StorageTek Library Controller Earns Jiro Certification

StorageTek(R) (Storage Technology Corp.) today announced it has achieved a second Jiro Enabled Certification, this time for the StorageTek Horizon Dynamic Library Controller 1.0. The company said Jiro technology simplifies the integration of StorageTek’s tape and library products with other Jiro technology-enabled devices and applications in open storage area networks (SANs).

“Jiro technology facilitates interoperable end-to-end storage management solutions that will free customers from the complexity of managing enterprise SANs,” said Dennis Grant, vice president Software Product Group, Sun Network Storage. “By adding tape to the growing list of Jiro technology-enabled devices, StorageTek demonstrates its commitment to driving industry standards that will help make open storage networks a reality.”

According to StorageTek, the Dynamic Library Controller is the first product from any storage library vendor that enables library management using Jiro technology. Based on the SNIA Storage Media Library Committee’s model, this management facade provides control and monitoring for StorageTek’s L-Series libraries.

“StorageTek is excited to introduce the Dynamic Library Controller into the community of Jiro technology enabled services,” said Gary Francis, StorageTek corporate vice president and general manager, Automated Tape Solutions. “This product delivers the standards based interfaces that allow StorageTek L-Series libraries to readily integrate with customer management applications.”
