StorageTek(R) (Storage Technology Corp.) today announced taht in n addition to receiving Microsoft and Jiro product certifications, StorageTek is also certifying compatibility of several of its partners’ solutions with StorageTek products.
According to the company, Microsoft certification has been achieved for a number of StorageTek solutions, including StorageTek’s 9840 tape drives and L-Series tape libraries. Additionally, StorageTek’s full-Fibre RAID 9176 disk storage system is entirely compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows NT and Windows 98 technology.
StorageTek says Jiro Enabled certification was achieved by StorageTek’s Horizon Library(TM) Observer 1.0. Developed through an industrywide initiative and open forum in the Java Community Process (JCP) program, Jiro technology is an open, freely available set of Application Program Interfaces (APIs), providing developers with an infrastructure for building interoperable end-to-end storage management solutions for complex distributed environments.
In addition, the company is certifying its partners’ storage equipment for compatibility with StorageTek product offerings. In March 2001, StorageTek certified JNI’s FibreStar PCI and Sbus Fibre Channel host bus adapters for compatibility with the StorageTek 9840 and T9940 FC tape drives, L180 and L700 tape libraries, as well as the StorageTek StorageNet(R) 6000 storage domain manager.
In related news, StorageTek joined Network Appliance’s Advantage Partner program, enabling both companies to certify and support solutions using StorageTek tape libraries for backing up data from NetApp filers. Additionally, StorageTek teamed up with Fibre Channel and SAN training leader Infinity/IO to establish the an Open Systems SAN certification program.
