FreeDrive Inc. , a provider of consumer and commercial web-based storage application solutions, announced it will extend its Global Information Access System via MAP, its proprietary Mobile Application Platform API.

“MAP has enabled FreeDrive to easily bundle Air2Web’s Mobile Internet Platform into its web-based storage applications technology,” said Rich Berner, FreeDrive’s CTO. “With this integration, customers can now access, view, manage and email their files – including word documents, photographs, and spreadsheets–from any web-enabled phone (WAP) or personal digital assistant (PDA), such as a Palm or pager.”

“Accessing information via any wireless web-enabled device has been a key part of our strategy from the very beginning,” said Dave Falter, president and COO of FreeDrive. “Bundling Air2Web’s Mobile Internet Platform into our offering allows customers to access and manage their data from even more wireless devices, and developing MAP gave us the capability to deploy this functionality cost effectively.”

“Wirelessly enabling an application can be a very difficult task,” said Dale Gonzalez, Air2Web’s VP of Wireless Development. “FreeDrive’s MAP made integration simple. We are trying to get more customers to move toward this type of integration.”

“A business’ employees and customers often need global access to their data and the ability to share and back-up critical information,” said Sanjoy Malik, Air2Web’s president and CEO. “We feel this accessibility and convenience is crucial to a mobile sales force, as well as a customer care operation and will go a long way in helping businesses maximize their efficiency and maintain excellent customer service. We are looking forward to having this service available to our customer base.”
