Trying to come up with a list of the top ten open source projects is never an easy task – which is why I was interested in a new list put out today by OpenLogic.

The OpenLogic list is ranked by which open source projects, their customers purchased support on. According to OpenLogic the top ten projects by support are:

  • JBoss Application Server
  • Tomcat
  • Apache HTTP Server
  • Hibernate
  • Core

    Spring Framework

  • Struts
  • MySQL Community Server
  • Subversion
  • Ant
  • Log4j

Yeaah, I know, lots of ‘interesting’ projects there. JBoss, Spring, MySQL and Subversion all have commercial entities backing them too, yet enterprises are going to OpenLogic for support instead of going elsewhere (i.e paying Red Hat for JBoss).
