Publishing software tools vendor Quark
Inc.
and Extensibility Inc.,
a vendor specialized in providing XML schemas for enabling technologies,
this week reached a software bundling agreement.

With this formation of this alliance, customers that purchase avenue.quark, from
Quark will receive a trial version of XML Authority, Extensibility’s XML
schema creation, conversion, and management solution.

Avenue.quark is a newly released tool that converts QuarkXPress content
into XML. It enables users to tag the content of QuarkXPress documents and
extract them into XML using a document type definition as the
blueprint for the data structure. When imported into XML Authority, the
data structure, or schema, can be enhanced and converted into all other
major and emerging dialects.

The two companies anticipate that the resulting alliance will create
flexibility for the interchange of content, internally or with business
partners, thus making it easy to re-use QuarkXPress content on the Web and
elsewhere.

“XML Authority is a best-of-breed solution that’s intuitive to use and
understand, as it allows the user to work with a DTD graphically,” said
Kristin Rowley, product manager for XML tools at Quark in a statement
released by the company. “XML Authority gives QuarkXPress content its
context,” she added.

Founded in 1998, Extensibility provides enabling technologies with XML
schemas by offering designing environments that accelerate the conversion,
creation and management of e-business grammars. Thousands of organization,
including industry initiatives such as BizTalk, FpML, HR-XML, and Acord, use
XML Authority and XMLschema.com to build Internet-ready business and
industry grammars for next-generation e-business applications.
Extensibility has partnered with such companies as Microsoft, Commerce One,
Software AG, Quark and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Founded in 1981, privatelyeld Quark Inc. develops and distributes
software for high-end, professional electronic publishing and communication.
Quark’s products include QuarkXPress,
QuarkXPress Passport, avenue.quark, Quark Digital Media System and
QuarkDMS.
