Bell Launches Western Canadian Internet Presence

Sympatico-Lycos, Canada’s Internet
network of properties owned by Bell ActiMedia, Bell Canada’s subsidiary
for its Internet portal strategy and directory publishing, has launched
calgaryplus.ca.

Calgaryplus.ca, a portal, provides information on life in Calgary: arts
and culture, sports and community events, local, national and
international news, and restaurants and hotels. Visitors to the site can
explore businesses and services, restaurants and bars, cinemas, music,
hotels and tourist attractions. Virtual tours are available for some
areas of interest, such as the Calgary Saddledome.

“With calgaryplus.ca going online today, Bell has officially launched
its Western Canadian Internet presence,” said Doug Renwicke, Bell
ActiMedia’s senior vice-president, direct marketing and emerging
business.

“The premiere of calgaryplus.ca, combined with the June
launch of the CalgaryPlus YellowPages(TM), represents another step in
Bell’s overall strategy to provide businesses and consumers across
Canada with information, communication and entertainment services.”

Ticketmaster is the key content partner for calgaryplus.ca. Through this
partnership, site visitors can search for entertainment events and buy
event tickets online. A promotional partnership with CTV affiliate CFCN
will be announced shortly.

Sympatico-Lycos, which was created in February 2000, offers Canadians an
Internet experience combining Internet technology and applications,
including search, community, personalization,
e-mail, city guides and Canadian content. Sympatico-Lycos also operates
toronto.com, montrealplus.ca, and quebecplus.ca. Later this year, new
city sites will be added in Edmonton and Vancouver.

calgaryplus.ca is part of citysearch.com, a network of online
city sites owned by Ticketmaster Online-Citysearch. Through
citysearch.com, visitors link to calgaryplus.ca. citysearch.com has more
than 80 city sites throughout North American, European and Asian
centres.

Bell ActiMedia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Canada, Canada’s
largest communications company. It is responsible for database and
directory publishing, e-commerce solutions for small and medium-sized
businesses, Internet portals and is the parent company to
Sympatico-Lycos.
