CanWest Interactive Scores with All Sport Ventures

[Winnipeg, CANADA] – CanWest Interactive acquired a controlling interest in Winnipeg-based All Sport Ventures, a privately held Internet provider of software, information and services for amateur sport in Canada.

All Sport Ventures’ Internet portal allCanadianSport.ca will offer sport organizers, administrators, coaches, officials and participants free access to online services that simplify the planning, administration, and delivery of amateur sport programs and events at local, regional, and national levels.

“This investment is a strategic fit with our other Internet properties and is consistent with CanWest Interactive’s strategy of investing in specialty content providers which offer synergies with our existing broadcasting operations,” said Gary Maavara, vice president and general manager, New
Media at Global Television.

The allCanadianSport.ca site will launch this fall and feature interactive online tools for personal, sport and facilities management and a communications network connecting thousands of organizations with athletes and participants at all levels of amateur sports in communities across Canada.

The site will include a message center for sports participants, an administration center, Web page creation tools and an information resource center featuring a library, news, bulletin boards, classified ads, games and contests.

CanWest recently announced it has acquired the Canadian Internet assets of Hollinger Inc, which include canada.com, careerclick.com, carsclick.com and 80 percent of faceoff.com, as well as Hollinger’s Canadian metropolitan newspapers, magazines and most of the community newspapers.

All Sport Ventures Inc. is a recently launched Winnipeg-based company specializing in providing Internet-based software, information and services for the amateur sport community in Canada.
