Entera Intros TeraCAST

Entera, Inc. Monday unveiled its TeraCAST Streaming
Server family, a standards-based, multi-platform streaming server software.

TeraCAST is designed to allow content providers and developers to serve active
Internet content, such as audio or video files, in a continuous transmission.
It utilizes the standards-based QuickTime player and Java 2.0, which is available with every
user’s desktop.

“TeraCAST helps accelerate the deployment of Internet broadcasting for both
consumers and content providers,” said Steve West, president and chief executive officer of
Entera. “TeraCAST was developed to meet the need we saw in the marketplace
for a standards-based, customizable, multi-OS platform streaming server that
allows users to serve unlimited streams. TeraCAST not only meets those needs,
it exceeds them, and at a very affordable price.”

TeraCAST Plus is built upon the open industry standards RTP and RTSP,
standard protocols for serving active Internet content and is optimized to
work with hardware and OS platforms such as Window 98, Windows NT, Sun
Solaris, Sun SPARC, FreeBSD, and Linux.

Entera offers two versions of the TeraCAST Server:

  • TeraCAST Lite — designed to demonstrate the significant benefits of
streamed media. A beta version is currently available, with the full version of TeraCAST Lite set to be available for
    download on February 21.

  • TeraCAST Plus — A commercially available product, TeraCAST Plus provides
enhanced features and unlimited streaming capabilities. TeraCAST Plus is scheduled for availability on February 21 for $1,495 per server CPU.
