Teleglobe Communications Corp. and iBEAM Broadcasting Wednesday signed a partnership to put iBEAM content servers on Teleglobe’s global Internet backbone
network.

This agreement will give Internet users in over 100 countries
improved access to CD quality audio and broadcast quality video content from iBEAM.

“Our recent experience with successful broadcast events such as Woodstock ’99
and the MTV Music Video Awards have reinforced our view that global reach and
proven reliability are essential ingredients in serving the expanding
audience for streaming media,” said Peter Desnoes, president and CEO of iBEAM
Broadcasting.

“Teleglobe’s ability to reach over 100 countries with their
global Internet backbone network, plus their extensive experience in global
communications and control over 15% of the world’s Internet routes, makes
them an excellent partner for iBEAM in delivering high quality audio and
video content around the world.”

Teleglobe announced earlier this year that it would invest US$5 billion over
the next five years to build GlobeSystem, the world’s first
globally-integrated Internet, voice, data and video network.

GlobeSystem will
increase Teleglobe’s currently installed network capacity by an estimated
200-fold, and provides customers with direct network access from 160 major
cities worldwide.

“The value of our global Internet backbone network is clearly strengthened by
our agreement with iBEAM,” said John Cahill, president, Teleglobe USA, Inc.

“Not only do Internet users in over 100 countries now have access to iBEAM’s
top rung broadcasts, Teleglobe’s ISP partners can now offer their customers a
new source of high performance content due to the direct `one-hop’ placement
of iBEAM’s servers on our network. We also see a good deal of synergy with
iBEAM in our shared philosophy that satellite technology will play an
ever-increasing role in the delivery of Internet services.”
