Red Hat (NYSE:RHT) is expanding its JBoss acceleration effort with the acquisition of privately held integrator Amentra. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Amentra has more than 140 employees with offices in Richmond, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Charlotte and Tampa and is already a certified JBoss system integrator.
“Amentra brings depth in technology and customer experiences to Red Hat,” Craig Muzilla, vice president of middleware business at Red Hat, told InternetNews.com. “This will help feed specific customer requirements directly into the product organization within Red Hat.”
Last month Muzilla announced Red Hat’s JBoss acceleration initiative. As part of that effort Muzilla
>boldly declared at the time that Red Hat was setting a strategy in motion to capture 50 percent of enterprise middleware workloads by 2015.
Red Hat already has similar capabilities as Amentra in terms of system-integration resources. The plan is for Amentra to continue as an independent Red Hat company and operate much the same as it did prior to the acquisition.
It’s not yet clear whether Red Hat’s consulting team will be consolidated into Amentra. “We are still working on many of the questions specific to the integration,” Muzilla said.
In addition, the Amentra acquisition also brings integration skills for technologies outside of Red Hat’s.
“Amentra’s mission will remain the same, and we’ll continue with business as usual,” Mike Lambert, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, sales at Amentra, told InternetNews.com. “We will maintain our current work, which expands beyond JBoss.”
