Seattle Online Network Co-Founder Dan Sundgren announced last night that the organization will be holding the first ever Seattle-area web awards ceremony at the Paramount this coming July. The Zurbies, named after the cat of the organization’s other Co-Founder Kristine Asin, is similar in concept to the Webbies that were recently held in San Francisco. The event is still in its early stages of planning. However, Sundgren did reveal that there will be as many as 10 different categories: Including awards for Seattle’s best ISP and ASP.

According to Sundgren, this major internet industry event will help celebrate the organization’s one year anniversary. ” We launched the Seattle Online Network back in July 1999 at the “Drink on Eastlake , ” says Sundgren. “Seventy-five people showed up to have some fun and a drink.” The number of participants has continued to increase from month to month.

Tonight, the Seattle Online Network (seattlenetwork.com) takes over the “Tech Zone” at the Pacific Science Center from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Some 400 people are expected to attend.
