CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J., Aug 8–EarthLink , the
No. 2 U.S. Internet Service Provider (ISP), said it has agreed to buy IBS
Interactive’s consumer dial-up business of 17,000
subscribers. Under the terms of the agreement, IBS Interactive will receive cash
based upon final determination of the total number of subscribers who
remain with EarthLink. The
divestiture of IBS’ consumer dial-up business is the last piece of its
strategic plan to concentrate entirely on its e-consulting services, as in
July, IBS announced plans to merge with Infonautics and First Avenue Ventures to create a new company that will be
named Digital Fusion.
