LONDON, Sept 1–Britain’s biggest home shopping group Great
Universal Stores Plc said it had agreed to buy Internet retailer
Jungle.com for US $56 million in cash, including the repayment of
around US $17 million in debt. Privately-held Jungle.com, which had intended to float
before valuations of Internet retail stocks plunged, sells computers, music
and games online. With the acquisition, GUS will be able to offer its customers
a wide range of computer and office products via the most convenient
channel, be it ordering via store, catalogue or Internet.

MADRID, Spain, Sept. 4–Deutsche Telekom AG ,
through its subsidiary, T-Online International AG, acquires
Ya.com Internet Factory from Jazztel p.l.c. . Ya.com is a rapidly growing
ISP/Portal in the Iberian peninsula and is currently the number two in the
Spanish portal market. The financial, managerial and technical synergies
that can be realized through the acquisition will enhance the development
of Ya.com and will further reinforce T-Online’s strategy to be the leading
European ISP. T-Online will issue 15.25 million new shares and US $88
million in cash, valuing Ya.com at approximately US $488 million.

SUNNYVALE, Sept. 1–iEngineer.com, an application service
provider (ASP) and developer of Rich Data Transfer and secure intellectual
property management technology, and Vuent, a provider of enterprise,
web-centric software for 3D visual collaboration, jointly announced that iEngineer has acquired Vuent. The acquisition will permit the
company to Vuent’s strong technologies, domain experience, and financial
assets, to bring the web’s first Rich Data Collaboration Platform to
market. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
