    SAN MATEO, Aug. 18–Keynote announced the
    acquisition of Red Alert, a privately-held company based in Dallas,
    Texas that is a provider of Web site accessibility monitoring for
    e-businesses worldwide. The acquisition strengthens Keynote’s leadership position with
    immediate ability to market and sell its services to Red Alert’s corporate customers
    interested in measuring, assuring and improving e-commerce quality of
    experience. The purchase price is $15 million paid in cash, with additional
    cash of up to $10 million based upon the successful achievement of certain
    performance goals.

    LONDON, Aug. 18–QXL.com plc has agreed
    revised terms for its proposed merger with ricardo.de, uniting two
    of the largest European online auction companies which will create a
    pan-European market leader with over two million registered users. Under
    the revised terms, QXL will offer all ricardo shareholders 34 QXL Ordinary
    Shares for each ricardo share, representing a maximum aggregate
    consideration of approximately 290.1 million QXL Ordinary Shares with a
    value of approximately 171.2 million pounds, or USD $256 million,
    representing a premium of approximately 11 %.

    NEW YORK, Aug. 18–About.com confirmed
    that the company recently acquired online e-commerce advertising network
    WiseAds New Media, an Internet e-commerce advertising network. The
    deal is expected to add WiseAds’
    clients to About.com’s Luna
    Network
    of affiliated content sites, and to bolster About.com ad sales. Financial terms of the
    deal weren’t revealed.

    solutions company Nextracom. Nextracom will form a new division
    of Vertical Markets,
    developing B2B technologies and a range of new product of

    ferings. The deal
    is expected to underpin Vertical Markets’ delivery of total, cost-effective

    announces the acquisition of a major controlling interest in privately held
    Compass Data Systems, headquartered in Salt Lake City. Compass Data provides turnkey
    electronic information publishing services in a completely searchable
    electronic infobase to a wide variety of industries and organizations. Internet Law Library owns
    subsidiaries that operate Internet sites that provide subscription access
    to databases used for tracking pending legislation and for performing legal
    research.
