DALLAS, Oct. 3–Allegiance Telecom , a
competitive local exchange carrier headquartered in Dallas, Texas,
announced that on September 28, 2000, it acquired privately-held
Virtualis Systems, a Web hosting company and applications service
provider (ASP) based in North Hollywood, Calif. The Virtualis acquisition is Allegiance Telecom’s third
Internet-related purchase in 2000 as the company expands its hosting and
e-commerce presence for its targeted business customers. Terms of the deal
were not disclosed.

world’s leading e-business infrastructure software companies, announced
that it has acquired Bauhaus Technologies, a privately held,
Chicago-based e-business consulting firm focused on the architecture and
design of highly-scalable, robust B2B systems. The Bauhaus Technologies acquisition is
expected to strengthen the core e-commerce system architecture and business
design skills of the BEA
Professional Services team, and is important to enabling BEA to expand its
mentoring of channel partners. Financial terms of the agreement were not

global leader in e-security, announced it has signed a definitive agreement
to acquire Nevex Software Technologies, an innovator in
policy-driven authorization technology for secure e-business deployments.
By acquiring Nevex’s XML-based access
management system, Baltimore will
increase the flexibility of its product line, giving customers the ability
to deploy centralized policy management that works with a variety of
authentication mechanisms. The total consideration of the acquisition is
valued at 4.2 million shares.

acquired Qiave Technologies, an emerging provider of advanced
digital information security for corporate internetworking, for
approximately 1.29 million shares of common stock valued at approximately
$66 million. The Qiave acquisition
expands and deepens WatchGuard’s
capability to protect Web and application servers from hackers targeting
public content residing behind an organization’s firewall, which are today
particularly vulnerable to attack from both external and internal hackers.
