Out of their offices in Seattle’s downtown Maritime Building, the Town Compass team has been carefully following for the past few weeks the latest developments at the Huskies’ campus. The close attention has nothing to do with an upcoming sports competition, but with the beta testing of Town Compass’ latest palm pilot-based pocket directory product.
The product will be up and running in early June not just for the University of Washington, but also for USC, Stanford and the University of Alaska. UCLA and UC Berkeley will be next in line. University students and faculty will be able to download the pocket directory from pocketdirectory.com.
The directory will feature key contact info such as emails, URLs and phone numbers for everything from academic departments to job sites. The company plans to also offer pre-loaded versions in the near future.
“The academic world is where the internet all started, so it made sense to us to provide our services first to this information-intensive community,” says Town Compass CEO Eric Makus. The company will soon be releasing a pocket directory for the greater Seattle area. Users can currently visit towncompass.com to access over 10,000 links to contact info for everything ranging from associations to restaurants.
