Monday’s good news continues with an announcement by WildTangent that they have secured $34 million in a third round of financing.

Redmond-based WildTangent is a provider of multimedia graphics and animation. The company was nominated for PC Magazine’s 2000 Technical Excellence Awards and named one of Newsweek’s Top Five Technologies for 2001.

The company’s latest round was led by Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment and Accenture
Technology Ventures. Other investors include ATI, New York-based Millennium Technology Ventures,
Washington Mutual, International Data Group (IDG) Ventures, Madrona Venture Group LLC and
Greylock.

“We are very pleased with the phenomenal support we have received considering the current market climate,” says Alex St. John, co-founder and CEO of WildTangent. Our current goal is to focus and utilize this funding in a way that allows WildTangent to remain a strong and rapidly growing company for a long time,” says St. John.

St. John, a former Microsoft executive and creator of DirectX, formed WildTangent in 1998 with Cambridge mathematician Jeremy Kenyon.
