The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has named Rich LeFurgy and Scot McLernon to co-chair its new pop-up task force, IAB Chairman and CEO Greg Stuart said.

LeFurgy is president of Archer Advisers, an interactive and traditional media consultancy. He served as SVP of the Buena Vista Internet Group, overseeing sales for ABCNews.com, Disney Online and ESPN’s Web properties. He helped found the IAB in 1996 and was its director and chairman for five years from 1996 to 2001.

McLernon is executive VP of sales and marketing for CBS MarketWatch.com, before which he was the national director of ad sales for Quote.com.

“The ad industry groups need to do more, which is exactly why the IAB is stepping in,” LeFurgy said. “Specifically, we’re going to be looking at frequency capping, size standards, descriptions and definitions, because there seems to be different definitions of pop-up.”

Modem Media expanded its European management team, hiring Kathryn Stokes Cavanah as director of new business development.

Stokes Cavanah joins from iXL, where she managed European business development efforts within the retail and travel industries, with clients including British Airways and Travelocity Europe. Earlier she held sales and marketing positions at AT&T and Coca-Cola.

“Kathryn has proven experience in demonstrating the invaluable roles that interactive marketing and technology play in offering integrated, meaningful, branded customer experiences,” said Managing Director Michael de Kare-Silve.

Integrated marketing agency The Phelps Group has hired Jessica Green and Shelley Wise as team coordinators.

Green and Wise will work with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Dunn Edwards Paint, Countrywide Bank, City of Hope and other clients.

Vibe/Spin Ventures has handed Interep Interactive exclusive national ad selling duties for Spin.com and Vibe.com. Revamped and relaunched over the summer, the two Web sites on urban culture and music combine original content, photo exclusives, audio-clips, free downloads and breaking news.

“Interep knows how to present our unique brands to marketers better than anyone else,” said Vibe/Spin Ventures’ Stuart Haas.
