HP is pushing its networking portfolio to new speeds. This week the firm is focusing on the enterprise Wi-Fi market, a networking segment of increasing importance as demand for bandwidth continues to rise.
HP has announced its Mobile Access Solution, a portfolio of three access points that cap out at a capacity of 900 Mbps.
The dual-radio MSM460 and MSM466 are what HP calls 3×3 arrays. “So that’s three transmitters, three receivers and three spatial arrays to get to 450 Mb/s per radio,” said Jeff Schwartz, senior product manager for mobility and wireless at HP’s networking division.
Schwartz points out that the impressive figure of 900 Mbps refers to signaling capacity, and cannot be expected to transmit into the connection speed for an endpoint device.
