The vCloud Automation Center 5.1 release that is now being added to the vCloud Suite.

Mahesh Kumar, Director of Product Marketing at VMware, explained to InternetNews that the Automation Center is built on tech acquired from DynamicOps in July of this year.

The DynamicOps technology has been enhanced with VMware’s vCloud Director and Orchestration tools and now enables users to deploy many different types of workloads directly to the cloud. The Automation Center isn’t specific to VMware-based server clouds either.

“You can deploy to a VMware vSphere-based cloud either in your own data center or at a service provider,” Kumar said. “You can also deploy to Amazon EC2 as well.”

Kumar noted that the vCloud Automation Center is a storefront for cloud-based services that users and administrators can utilize to deploy and manage resources. The Automation Center is being made freely available to existing VMware vCloud customers. The vCloud was first announced this past summer at VMware’s US VMworld event.
