Browser innovations have picked up significantly the past few years, ever since Mozilla’s Firefox became a serious challenger to market leader Internet Explorer. And even as Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) responded with new versions of IE, Google (Chrome) and Apple (Safari) entered the fray with their own innovative browsers.
As Datamation reports,Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is now giving IE users the option of running Chrome’s browser engine inside of Internet Explorer (versions 6, 7 and 8). One reason for doing this is to gain better HTML 5 support. But the move is not without controversy. As the article details, Microsoft was quick to say adding the Chrome engine to IE poses a security risk.
