INTERSHOP Communications rolled out
INTERSHOP 3, the next generation of its electronic commerce software, before a
gathering of more than 700 industry execs at Internet Showcase in San Diego.
INTERSHOP 3, the evolution of INTERSHOP Online and INTERSHOP Mall, is
designed and engineered to set new standards for scalability, flexibility, and
performance in electronic commerce, the company said.
INTERSHOP 3 was designed to meet the requirements of large service providers
hosting thousands of online stores as well as small single-store merchants.
“INTERSHOP 3 is the only e-commerce software offering large hosts the tools to
build multi-platform systems with four-tiered architecture and load balancing
for lightning-fast performance, but at the same time, allowing even the
smallest merchants to build fully featured and scalable solutions for their
businesses,” said Jeff Watts, vice president of marketing at San
Francisco-based INTERSHOP.
The product offers platform independence on all application levels, hybrid
HTML, distributed load bearing. and segmented architecture. It includes an
11-step store design guide.
INTERSHOP 3, scheduled for general availability at the end of the first
quarter, is priced at $4,995 for a single-store solution on either Microsoft
Windows NT or UNIX. Internet hosts can purchase additional store licenses at
reduced prices.
