Myplay.com launched an e-mail
service Friday.
Concert Alert provides myplay members with personalized concert information on
dates and times of local performances by their favorite major and independent
label artists. The service is a free, “opt-in” feature of the myplay
service, and gives myplay members information on upcoming local shows by
artists whose music they have in their myplay locker.
Myplay has partnered with Gigmania, a live music site,
to obtain up-to-date concert listings. Gigmania’s database includes
information on more than 40,000 tour dates at 30,000 venues around the U.S.,
Asia, Australia and Europe.
Once a myplay member opts in for the Concert Alert service by simply
providing myplay with their zip code, they receive periodic e-mails with date
and venue information for “Artists From Your Myplay Locker Coming to a Stage
Near You,” as well as listings for other “Upcoming Local Shows.” The zip
code allows myplay to provide information on shows within driving distance of
the customer.
As an added benefit, participants are provided with links to selected myplay DJ mixes that include more
music from the artist they’re interested in. Myplay members can click on a
link to instantly stream the mix from their computer.
“The service is simple to sign up
for, and even if you don’t have any music in your locker yet, myplay can
still provide you with concert information for shows coming to your area,”
said Doug Camplejohn, myplay chief executive officer and co-founder.
