Open Source Self-Assessment Tool Now Available

There is no free lunch — and that includes open source software. While one of the reasons for the popularity of open source is that it’s freely available (and extensible), that availability is part of a license agreement that covers authorized use of the open source code.

Datamation details a compliance program developed by the Linux Foundation, including an open source checklist, designed to ensure that companies are complying with open source licensing requirements.


The Linux Foundation is delivering on its promise to help enterprises comply with open source licensing terms with a new self-assessment checklist.


The checklist is one of the deliverables of the new compliance program, though it’s not a complete solution to ensure that an enterprise is fully open source license compliance.
