3ware(R) Inc. this week announced the Escalade(TM) 7000 product line, its third generation of high-performance storage switches.
With this announcement, 3ware said, it continues its legacy of delivering the highest-performing storage switches in the industry. 3ware’s patented StorSwitch(TM) architecture is the foundation for 3ware’s approach of merging storage and networking to leverage the Ethernet infrastructure customers already have in place.
According to 3ware, its Escalade storage switches bring greater performance, reliability, and availability characteristics than traditional SCSI controllers. Rackable Systems provides 3ware-enabled storage solutions to its premier customer base, which includes Google and Yahoo, allowing them to easily scale their environments with 3ware’s Escalade line of storage switches. The company said that recent benchmarks demonstrate that the Escalade 7800 delivers greater than 180 MB/sec sustained transfer rates. The 3ware Escalade 7000 series is available from 3ware and its approved channel partners.
“Our customers are looking to us to take the complexity and limitations associated with shared bus architectures out of the storage equation. 3ware is committed to delivering reliable, scalable, storage systems that leverage the existing network and deliver break-neck performance without breaking your IT budget,” said Beau Vrolyk, president and CEO of 3ware.
All products in the Escalade 7000 product suite are expected to be generally available on June 30, and can be purchased through 3ware channel partners. Volume discounts may apply.
The Escalade 7800 is a long, eight-port board priced at $545. The 7810, which Escalade claimed is the industry’s first short, eight-port board, is also priced at $545. Escalade said the 7410 is the industry’s first short, four-port board and is priced at $395.
