Quantum Tech today announced the release of RBackup version 8.2 – software that it said enables Service Providers to offer Remote Backup services to businesses on a subscription basis, charging a monthly fee for the service.

According to Quantem Tech, RBackup automatically compresses and securely encrypts business data, then transmits it off-site at night when businesses are closed. It can use the Internet or regular telephone lines. RBackup can then quickly restore files when needed.

“There are 3,000 RBS Service Providers in 59 countries serving hundreds of thousands of subscribers,” said Rob Cosgrove, president of QTI. “Most of them have come online within the past three years. We are pleased to see the small business community becoming aware of the need to better protect their data. We have heard some phenomenal survival stories.”
