Winchester Systems Inc., a provider of high performance storage for UNIX and NT servers, announced that it has joined Rational Software Corp.’s Unified Partner Program.

“Software engineers using Rational tools discovered that the entire software development life-cycle can be significantly accelerated using FlashDisk OpenRAID disk arrays,” said Joel Leider, CEO of Winchester Systems. “This enhanced speed dramatically cuts development time, increases engineering productivity, reduces time to market and thus increases business profitability.”

“We are pleased to have Winchester Systems join the growing community of more than 500 Rational Unified Partners,” said David Abelow, Rational Software’s director of alliance marketing. “The unique solutions they bring to the market help to ensure that our mutual customers can realize the real benefit of faster disk access.”

According to Winchester Systems, FlashDisk OpenRAID ultra-high performance disk array delivers over 13,000 sustained I/O operations per second to the disks for random access, and up to 121 MB per second sustained data throughput to the disks using two host ports for sequential access.

FlashDisk OpenRAID runs on UNIX and NT servers including SUN, HP, IBM and Intel and is a true hardware, plug-and-play “open system” storage solution, which emulates standard SCSI disks. According to Winchester Systems, this eliminates proprietary host software, RAID managers and the need for software drivers or agents of any kind. FlashDisk OpenRAID supports hardware RAID 1, 3, 5, 1+0 and RAID 15 for data protection.
