After five months of testing, Canada Post’s online shipping software, called eParcel is available to Internet retailers.

Canada Post made its announcement at the annual Direct Marketing Association conference in Toronto.
eParcel is to assist online retailers set up the total shipping solution that suits their business, and give customers the ability to choose their preferred shipping option and cost for receiving an order.

On the Canada Post site, retailers can view a demonstration of the eParcel shipping module and download a standardized implementation guide, as well as an architecture document to assist the
technical team charged with developing online commerce.

Retailers with more complex operations will soon be able to fill out a business profile to obtain a more detailed implementation guide tailored to their type of business. This guide will show retailers how to connect to eParcel, and ensure their venture comes with a choice of time-certain delivery
options and shipping fees, for Canada or anywhere in the world.

eParcel software is free of charge and fits the retailer’s existing shipping model. Canada Post intends to position itself as a player in the business-to-home parcel delivery market.
