Wysdom Inc., a
global wireless Internet infrastructure provider (wireless Internet ASP)
has acquired Montreal-based Evolucom
Inc.
The purchase bolsters Wysdom’s software application service
offerings with Evolucom’s ability to manage, design and develop
large-scale e-commerce and wireless application protocol (WAP) projects
for many of North America’s largest enterprises, including Ericsson,
Hewlett Packard, Phone.com and Laurentian Bank.
The Evolucom acquisition increases Wysdom’s development abilities with
system developers skilled in the convergence of Internet and telecom, as
well as WAP development.
Evolucom’s expertise in wireless telecommunications, e-commerce, and WAP
enhances Wysdoms mobile delivery capabilities, according to Kashif
Hassan, Wysdom president and chief executive officer.
“Our
time-to-market for complex applications and sites will be accelerated as
Evolucom’s experience in Internet and intranet architectures is
integrated with Wysdom’s wireless ASP model,” he said.
Wysdom’s purchase shows the company’s strategy to grow through
acquisition in the wake of a US$50 million second-round investment in
February 2000. This closely follows the purchase of Origins, a
Boston-based software firm developing a graphical interface for wireless
Internet delivery applications. As with the Evolucom acquisition,
Origins core technologies accelerate the time-to-market for Wysdom’s
products and services.
Wysdom provides the infrastructure for dot-coms and Internet content
providers to communicate with mobile customers around the world. Its
product offering includes Mobile Instant Messenger, Mobile Ads, PCS
Alerts, Quick Message, InfoNow, OfficeMail2Go, Personal Start Page.
Wysdom’s applications enable seamless delivery of content, advertising,
and e-commerce transactions via mobile devices.
