Drupal Founder Outlines Version 8 Goals

Drupal 7 debuted earlier last year, and the founder of the CMS is eager to put lessons learned from that exercise to use in creating version 8.

Drupal is one of the most popular open source content management systems in use today — deployed by Whitehouse.gov, Mozilla and NASA.

Developers and users are attending the annual conference being held this week in Chicago, where founder Dries Buytaert during his keynote address spoke about where the CMS is headed.

In version 8 of Drupal, two big goals are to decrease the bugs occurring during the developer process and to expand Drupal beyond desktops to smartphones, tablets and TV, said Buytaert.

He also elaborated on his hopes for the Drupal ecosystem.
