Imation Corp., a provider of data storage and information management, announced the availability of its Black Watch(TM) Digital Linear Tape IV data cartridges, compatible with DLTtape 4000, 7000 and 8000 drives.

According to the company, the new offerings are designed for reliable midrange network server applications, Imation certified, and feature 40GB/80GB capacity (2:1 compression) and up to 6MB transfer rate.

“We lead the industry with 50 years experience researching, pioneering, testing and commercializing enterprise-class tape products,” said Frank Russomanno, vice president and general manager of Imation Data Storage Media and Services. “The addition of Imation-Certified Black Watch Digital Linear Tape IV cartridges offers network managers and administrators a reliable alternative to today’s Quantum-qualified DLTtape brands.”

The company said the Black Watch Digital Linear Tape IV cartridges passed Imation’s stringent certification process for meeting customer requirements at levels at or above that of comparable DLTtape brands. Complete test results of Imation Black Watch Digital Linear Tape IV cartridges and competitive brands are detailed in a white paper on the Imation Web site.
