Medea Announces AudioRack LP Storage System

Medea Corp., a manufacturer of digital video and audio storage subsystems, this week announced AudioRack LP, a low-profile, rack mountable storage system designed to support professional DAWs.

According to Medea, AudioRack LP supports high track count sessions and packs up to 300 GB of high-performance audio storage in 1 3/4-inches (1U) of rack space. Available in two- and four-drive configurations, the product is optimized to support today’s professional DAWs including Pro Tools MIXplus and Steinberg Nuendo systems.

Medea’s proprietary Audio Stripe Technology (AST) and integrated hardware controller enable the two-drive AudioRack LP to support the simultaneous playback of up to 24 tracks of audio and the four-drive version to support 64 track sessions of 24-bit/96 kHz audio. AST allows users to effortlessly record and playback up to 64 tracks to and from a single AudioRack LP, eliminating the need to manually manage audio media by juggling between multiple storage devices.

“AudioRack LP is the newest addition to our family of storage solutions optimized for use with digital audio workstations,” said Roger S. Mabon, director of marketing for Medea. “AudioRack LP supports professional 64-track audio production in a cost effective 1U rack mountable design.”

AudioRack LP disk arrays are available in configurations ranging from a two-drive, 60 GB array to a four-drive, 300 GB array with street prices starting at $12/GB. AudioRack LP is available from authorized distributors, value-added resellers (VARs) and mail-order suppliers.
