QLogic Launches SANblade Initiative

Storage Area Network provider QLogic Corp. announced the launch of SANblade(TM), a board-level platform that allows OEMs and IT professionals to standardize and simplify their SAN connectivity solutions for server and storage systems.

According to Qlogic, the SANblade is designed to address IT and OEM issues, supporting a broad range of topologies and customers’ application-specific requirements with a common hardware interface platform, software management suite, driver interface and sales channel. The SANblade line currently consists of board-level solutions based on Fibre Channel and in the future will include InfiniBand and iSCSI products.

“With so many I/O technologies on the horizon, customers are concerned about sorting through the confusion as they seek to match the right SAN infrastructure solutions to their customers’ application requirements,” said Frank Berry, vice president of product marketing, QLogic Computer Systems Group. “QLogic is simplifying SAN solutions by providing commonality among the major I/O infrastructures, making it easier to buy, sell and support one family of board-level products for every topology and application, including backup, clustering, VI or storage virtualization.”
