In the wake of Quantum Corp.’s merger with Maxtor, Quantum has announced that it has left behind its hard disk drive business in favor of data protection and storage solutions businesses.

According to Quantum, it currently has three business groups, the Enterprise Solutions Group, which is largely comprised of Quantum|ATL, the DLTtape Group, and Snap Appliances, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quantum which sells Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices.

Through these business groups, Quantum says it is aggressively pursuing the next steps in its evolution by strengthening its data protection foundation and continuing to broaden its storage solutions offerings.
