VERITAS Software Supports IBM eServer

VERITAS Software Corp. this week announced that VERITAS Software will support IBM’s recently released IBM e-business infrastructure offerings. It is a continuation of a series of cooperative efforts between the companies.


The IBM eServer e-business infrastructure offerings are package-priced hardware, storage and system software with optional middleware and services, designed to provide pSeries customers with reliable, flexible and affordable infrastructure foundations, for building and running eBusiness applications.


“More than ever, e-businesses require a robust infrastructure with best-of-breed software and hardware that will efficiently and effectively support today’s stringent computing demands,” said Kevin Reinis, vice president and general manager of IBM Strategic Business Unit for VERITAS Software. “IBM’s offerings augmented by VERITAS Software’s data protection solutions will provide a comprehensive and affordable foundation for business critical e-business applications. The combination of VERITAS NetBackup with IBM’s infrastructure packages brings down the overall cost of computing for p640 and p660 users.”


“With this announcement, IBM UNIX systems and middleware are now available to all VERITAS customers, providing a powerful e-business platform,” said Per Larsen, vice president of Worldwide Marketing for the IBM Server Group. “We are pleased that VERITAS, a leading provider of enterprise data protection solutions, has chosen to support IBM’s e-business infrastructure offerings.”
