Dot Hill Systems Corp., a supplier of storage area network (SAN) solutions, today announced that Zoom Media Group Inc., a Miami-based publisher focusing on the Latin American market, has selected the SANnet(TM) 7100 for its SAN implementation. Zoom Media publishes Spanish and Portuguese monthlies targeted toward Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, with circulation throughout Latin America and Miami.

Zoom Media said it has implemented a SAN using SANnet to store a SQL database of past, current and future issues, as well as for its enterprise-wide e-mail system. SANnet has made access to Zoom Media’s files much more efficient.

Carlos Alfaro, Zoom Media’s chief technology officer, said, “We were looking for a cost-effective way to centralize our storage and make our backup process more manageable. With SANnet, our users, particularly those in the art department, have faster and easier access to past issues, large graphic files and other files needed to publish the magazines each month. Our employees no longer waste time searching through files on CD to find exactly what they need. When we are on deadline for closing an issue, our employees sometimes work in the office until four or five o’clock in the morning. We can’t afford to have the system go down at that hour. In the publishing business, we must meet our deadlines. I now have peace of mind, knowing that our SANnet system is so reliable.”

“In the coming quarter and into 2002, Dot Hill is looking to expand its presence and market share in Latin America,” said James Lambert, president and chief executive officer of Dot Hill. “This is a growing market that we intend to aggressively go after. We are particularly pleased to be selected by Zoom Media for its growing publishing enterprise because the publishing, printing and prepress market is a great fit for our reliable and cost-effective SANnet family of storage systems.”
