Winchester Systems this week announced its FlashDisk OpenRAID disk array now has fibre channel interfaces and delivers up to 121 MB per second data throughput.

According to Winchester, the FlashDisk product line supports both point-to-point fibre connections and switched fibre connections. FlashDisk OpenRAID for fibre channel is compatible with Brocade, QLogic, JNI and other popular fibre switches and host bus adapters.

Each FlashDisk OpenRAID fibre channel disk array supports two fibre channel ports using dual GBIC optical interfaces, while the fibre ports support 1 Gbit data transfer rates and are upgradeable to 2 Gbit when available.

FlashDisk OpenRAID Fibre Channel models are available in pedestal or rackmount configurations. In either configuration, a unit with 8 disk drives with 73.4 GB each stores 587.2 GB and is priced at $45,836. Data center cabinets are available to house up to 9 rackmount units and a UPS.
