InterSAN Names VP – Sales

Storage Area Management (SAM) software producer InterSAN announced the appointment of Thomas W. Phillips, a 25-year industry veteran, as vice president of Sales.

The announcement of Phillips precedes InterSAN’s much anticipated product launch scheduled for later this month. Phillips will report to InterSAN CEO, Chris Melville, effective immediately.

“Tom comes to InterSAN with a proven track record of building strong customer relationships and high-performance enterprise sales teams across the globe,” said Chris Melville, president and CEO of InterSAN. “Tom knows the customer, and he knows the storage industry. He knows how to succeed in a startup environment, and at InterSAN he has found a company and a product with no equal. Tom is the right sales leadership to catapult InterSAN to profitability.”

As InterSAN’s new vice president of Sales, Phillips is charged with establishing a worldwide sales organization to sell the company’s storage area management (SAM) software. Before joining InterSAN, Phillips served as vice president of World Sales for Linuxcare, where he was responsible for increasing revenue in EMEA, Asia Pacific, South America, and North America.

Prior to joining Linuxcare, Phillips was vice president of North American sales for both Baystone Software and Wayfarer Communications/Vantive Corp. Phillips also provided sales expertise to Remedy Corporation, Vantive Corporation, and Cyberstar LLP. Before that, Phillips spent 10 years as vice president of North American sales for Sterling Software’s storage management division. Phillips began his career at Xerox and AT&T. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing from Cal State University Fresno.
