Plasmon this week announced it is shipping its new automated 5.25-inch magneto optical library line, the G-Series.
According to Plasmon, the G-Series incorporates Sony 14X-9.1 gigabyte magneto optical drives and is available in four models ranging from 164 slots to 638, and from four to 12 drives. The library scales from 1.5 terabytes to 5.8 terabytes with a standard feature set that includes a bar code scanner, a 10-slot bulk load import/export magazine and hot swappable drives.
“We designed this series of optical libraries to be leading-edge removable storage automation,” said Rob McPherson, president of Plasmon IDE. “Designed for reliability, availability and serviceability, these libraries feature brushless motors, auto-calibration, Plasmon’s patented y-theta media transport technology and are specifically designed to optimize today’s 9.1 GB and tomorrow’s UDO optical drives and media.”
Pricing for the G-Series starts at $50,730 for a 164-slot, four-drive library.
