American Power Conversion (APC) and Snap Appliances, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Quantum Corp., announced they have worked together to provide integration of APC’s technology as a recommended protection provider for the Snap Server(R) rack-mountable products, including the recently announced Snap Server ES12(TM).

With this designation, APC’s power management capabilities have been integrated into the embedded Snap Operating System (OS) and its Smart-UPS(R) uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) will be recommended to customers for the Snap Server ES12.

“Our customers rely on us to provide easy-to-use, cost-effective and reliable storage devices,” said Beth Bowen, director of business development for Snap Appliances. “The addition of APC’s power and management offerings will certainly enhance the customer’s installation of a Snap Server rack- mountable product and is a wonderful complement to our existing reliability features. With the integration of APC power management into the Snap Operating System, it is easier than ever for customers to take advantage of APC’s performance enhancing devices.”

“The rapid proliferation of Network Attached Storage devices adds another essential, yet potentially complex, element to networks,” said Peter Rumsey, vice president of APC’s Enterprise Solutions Group. “Snap Servers offer solutions that are designed to minimize this complexity, and with the integration of network shutdown and power monitoring via APC UPSs, this task is made even easier while addressing the devastating impact that power problems can have on a network.”
