Emulex Corp. , a supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), announced that EMC Corp. has qualified the Emulex LightPulse(R) LP9002 Fibre Channel HBA for use in EMC Enterprise Storage Network (ESN) environments running the Sun Solaris and IBM AIX operating systems.
Emulex HBAs are now qualified for EMC’s enterprise storage solutions in Windows, Solaris or AIX operating environments.
“EMC qualified Emulex’s LP9002 HBAs for Solaris and AIX environments to enable our customers to benefit from the scalability and flexibility connectivity that Emulex HBAs bring to our world-class storage solutions,” said Chuck Hollis, EMC director of Product Marketing. “Emulex HBAs offer the reliable and robust Fibre Channel connectivity solution that our enterprise customers demand.”
The Emulex LP9002 HBA supports 64 bit, 66MHz PCI transfers and operates at up to 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates. The product also offers auto speed negotiation, a function that enables the host bus adapter to automatically sense the network’s maximum speed and adapt accordingly, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 1Gb/s Fibre Channel installations.
“EMC’s qualification of the Emulex LP9002 for Solaris and AIX environments ensures that customers have the industry’s most robust, scalable storage solutions for enterprise applications,” said Mike Smith, executive vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Emulex. “We will continue to work closely with EMC to provide the highest quality HBA technology for both new and existing storage systems.”
